it is indeed sorta like myspace with one major difference: you have to be currently or previously enrolled in an institution of higher learning.

ok, I can see how Facebook can be useful after your friends spread out.
But atleast for me, I keep in touch with my camp friends (the ones I actually care enough to contact) via IM, email, And cellphone.
