communicating in the third millennium..
« on: July 05, 2006, 03:28:15 pm »
wow, what a cheesy title.

anyway, I´m going to celebrate my post no. 200 by starting a new thread, which doesn't happen very often. So it's just a short question, maybe some of you internet geeks can comment on that.

Basically the group where I'm doing my diploma thesis in is falling into pieces, with most of them moving to Japan, so we were thinking about an effective way of doing group meetings over the internet. So the perfect solution would consist of voice communication, supported by webcams, virtual blackboards (important aspect), and so on.

Anyone has experience with software or hardware? The last thing I used for communication was ICQ and IRC, and once skype, so I am not really up to date...

btw, talking about virtual blackboards, that would be a nice application for the Wii-mote, wouldn't it?

Oh, and while I am at it, can anyone recommend a cell phone to me I could get cheap on Ebay? (my current one stops working, and isn't even able to sms in lower case letters  :P)
