Redeemer was done a long, long time ago. It wasn't released because Music By Design went under. The songs from JnG were based off Redeemer songs, NOT the other way around. And there are only a few.
The fact is those songs you heard on Redeemer that sound simular to JnG songs came around BEFORE the JnG counterparts used in a game. The overall complaint I've heard on this discussion when it first came around was "Why were these versions given free when we had to pay for Redeemer much later". I've already explained Redeemer came first, but what I'll say on top of that is two things: Machinae could have chosen to release JnG OST after Redeemer OR not release it for free at all to avoid the entire problem from ever taking place.
I for one am very glad they gave it to us immediately.
While I am uncertain if the entire Redeemer album was mastered and finished when they did JnG OST (robert didn't specify), I am sure that the songs are based off of Redeemer songs and not vice versa. Redeemer is released now only because Machinae spent the time and money to release the Underground edition themselves, basically.
On a final note, while I defenitely hear the simularities... they are very different songs in my opinion. I think it's quite cool some songs from Redeemer were remade into more game-musicesque tracks for Jets & Guns.
While I'm on the subject, in case you don't know, theres other little blips and hints available in Machinae albums. For example: On Track 14 of Redeemer (Prelude to Empire) you hear samples from various older Machinae songs cutting in and out like someone changing a station to a radio. The last song plays the longest and fades out before the speaking comes in. That song is Dark City, a track not yet released from the work-in-progress 3rd Machinae album we'll someday cherish (most of you know this, but seeing as we have some newer people in this thread that were unaware of the Redeemer before JnG situation, I thought this could be new news to them as well).
