Nearest thing to a SiD station?
« on: June 24, 2006, 03:17:48 am »
Since it's blatantly apparent that unless I win the lottery or work 8 hours a day, 7 days a week for the whole summer, I won't be getting a SiD station. But what would be the nearest thing when it comes to making cool noises?

software synths.

get a good program.  i reccomend Reason 3.0 or FL6.  FL6 is easier to use, but very limited.  reason is much deeper, harder to use, and has a wealth more variety.

essentialy, the difference is taht instead of turning a knob, you use your mouse, and instead of carrying a box, you carry your computer.

and its torren^H^H^H^H^H^H easy to buy.

QuadraSiD works on almost all music software programs so it's a safe option
But if one day we meet together while I'm drunk, I promise you to draw a big group sex picture including a lot of forumites. :D

Or build your own sidstation.
We're open to such things, we've even talked many times about doing it with Inja, but in a way that's redundant because we can already get Erica

I thought about making a portable SID player that plays PSIDS (from HVSC etc.), you know, kinda like a pocket MP3 player (Creative MuVo, or iPOD) using a SID chip and some flash memory, but I have two problems-
1) I can't find any SID chips
2) I'm not *that* good at electronics

I will continue to dream though...

Who? me? That "bad boy" is a hand-pixelled self-portrait. Probably one of my best (or at least, favourite) pieces. Took about 30 minutes to an hour. It only contains 12 colours (including the transparent colour)

So...pmprog...are you Leonard Nimoy in disguise?

Anyhow, Quantum64 is pretty nice, at least if you're a poor student. :P
A universe where there was no War of Independence because British colonial policy was more enlightened. An American Civil War after which Lincoln wasn't assassinated. A Second World War in which Hitler was. Or where the whole planet was invaded by, I don't know, space lizards or something.
