Pick Slides and Getting that Particular Sound
« on: June 03, 2006, 07:40:12 pm »
Whenever I do a pick slide, I can do the slide, but I never get the sound you usually hear when someone does a pick slide. I don't know if there's some technical detail that I've missed or what, but it leaves me wondering what I'm doing wrong, or not doing at all. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks! :)

you slide the high string when tapping something with your other hand to get a cool sound. however for the screech thing i think you are looking for you make the best of using the long side of you pick on the E A and D strings. the closer to 90 degrees to the strings you hold the pick the more brutal and crunchy sound, the most angle (too a limit when your almost parallell to the string) closing up on the string will make it more like a scream with more treble. you can also vary the inclination as you move up, just try it out and practise man. then again rember to start at the tremolo bar too pass maximum amount of pick ups cause this will vary the volumes of the sound aswell

In my experience the, hardware is the most influential in a pick slide.
