Comic Assistance!
« on: June 12, 2006, 07:19:27 pm »
I've really been wanting to get into a comic or Manga (english), but I'm having a great deal of difficulty finding something that both appeals to me and isn't so far into a series that the first issues are still actually available.

With the whole Protomen thing, I stumbled upon a list of Mega Man comics that interested me, but most of them were either never published in English or are no longer around. (There was one that only made it 4 issues, and there is another that is based on the VR Megaman story which doesn't particularly appeal to me at all, reminds me of a kids cartoon like Digimon). The rest were never published in English as far as I can tell.

I wouldn't mind something based off a game, but it doesn't have to be either. Something serious, something compelling, but something still available and preferably still being published. Any suggestions? :)

thats why Trade Paper Backs exist. Yummy.

I recommend -

Transmetropolitan
Preacher
Superman: Red Son
Batman: year One
Batman: Dark Knight Returns
Global Frequency
The Ultimates
Y: The Last Man
The Invisibles (the second trade is much better than the first)
Kill Your Boyfriend
Channel Zero
Sandman (I guess)
Death: High cost of living
The Authority
Watchmen
Fell (no trades yet but the singles are cheap and the first one is online free)
Sin City
Hellblazer (pretty patchy IMO, Dangerous habbits is awesome though)
Ummm... Milk.
