Instead of searching for something to kill time, you could do something useful: Study, learn knitting, write a novel...

Try Maplestory.
Some people claim it's addictive, but I don't know about that...
I just know that I'm almost lvl 70 and I'm getting quite sick of it after one and a half year...
But once I'm over 70 I will be getting new skills, I hope that makes it more fun again.

I think noone's reached max level yet... So, there's lots of it...

I've found that most of the "fun" in RPGs is anticipation of what your character can do after he levels up and learns Skill X.

With another 'regular' game you will just tire of it and grow to dislike it. Repetative same shit over and over gets boring real fast.

Try buying an assload of games that you've passed over in the past that are considered masterpieces or at least very good. There will probably be a boat load of them and they'll either be available cheap on ebay or for lots of money because they are rare as fuck now but I guess they even out then.

I have been doing this for the past six months with the exception of Oblivion. I for one need to get around to picking up Fallout and Planescape Torment. Maybe Syberia.

Excellent suggestion. I've been trying to do that with the Black Isle games for months, but keep putting it off due to uni work or Oblivion.

I've played Oblivion, but i must say despite the graphics it lacks much of a gameplay factor that gets you excited like in World of Warcraft. Of course the graphics difference is there, but taking the online factor away from it just makes it less fun. Not a bad game, but me and a few friends tried it, and well it didn't stick for long, Soon enough we were back to our non-Oblivion ways.

And Oblivion really doesn't need online, it needs an immersive world (something Gothic has and Elder Scrolls sorely lacks).

Not forgetting Oblivion has that horrible FOV. Have you noticed how the view is slighly stretched around the edges and you seem to be rotating around a point instead of being on that point when you turn around? :/

Yes, still doesn't intrigue me enough to continue playing it.

Some scary characters in it too.. i walked up to a woman with a knife ready to do some innocent slaying.. when she turned around she was a tiger.. i actually jumped back. really weird.

You've got a point there, methinks.
Although I quite liked (and still do) Morrowind and Oblivion, it took me a while to get the feeling of being "involved" and interested in the game world. That wasn't the case with Gothic 2 (which I played before I ever tried Morrowind) - I fell in love with it from the very beginning. Still counting the days 'till Gothic 3's release.
