« on: May 11, 2006, 05:02:34 pm »

Meh, i think its more important having a good will and enthusiasm towards the music instead of being able to play or not.

Because if you're deticated, you will learn to play.

i very much disagree. There are way too many "bands" in Finland that thinks theyll become famous and stuff altought they have never ever seen any instruments. So they just get some guitars and that-whatever-it-is-called-thing-that-makes-noise and start to make an album.

Yeah, I agree w/ Niccho. I think that you should have at least some experience with your instrument before you look to start/join a band. It makes it easier on everyone. Then again, I've never been in a band, so I wouldn't know for sure. But I imagine it'd make it much easier to get the ball rolling if everyone knew how to play their instrument. I don't think they have to be masters of their craft, but when they've never even SEEN their instrument of choice before, they're gonna suck. Bigtime.

FITEF, untrue.

The Inja bassist had never played a bass before, but just picked one up and began playing. Result? Inja = win

Also, Rad can play. It seems to be one of few ways he can communicate with people ;)

Hey hey, i never said one way or the other, im just saying its more important having a huge dedication towards the band than having 1337 skills but being a bastard who doesn't show up.

To get past this stupid art of talk thats stuck on "sucking"..

Communication, which not only means being able to get along with the band but being able to argue and come out better in the end of it as a whole band still, its how you grow and evolve into a more solid direction currently with your music, of course itll change over time if you want it to, or it gets pushed to by the band member influences, which are all going to be different somehow, which is good.. as that creates a new blend of influences to work with.

I ramble.. however thats a good start.. communication. blam. theres more but im late for college.

Bass = Easiest instrument to pick up and play.

You just follow what the guitars do and keep in time with the drums.  It's intuition more than it is skill.

Yeah, always thought of bass like that as well.

Cept when you start doing more advanced stuff, tis different.

Mdx : communication is really important yeah, in my band we still have problems with that sometime, wich results into chaos :P

and of course you need some skills, but if you have the interest to join a band you probably have tried playing, just im fully on with rad there attitude > skills cause attitude ----> skills ;)   As for the bass diss id say it depends on the style but mostly it is the most easy thing to play yes
