I hope it isn't too late to have some opinions in this matter, haven't had the album for long, neither have I been around much, so here goes..

Reedemer did grow fast to me as MaSus songs always do, and get stuck for lifetime :D
But I find the album really good all the way through except that I intend to skip ”I know the Reaper” and ”Oki Kumas Adveture” way too often. I like them though, but in my mind they would've fit better at the DXM album or elsewhere along with ”Killer Instinct”, they don't nourish my  _Machinae_Supremacy_boost_  as much as their other songs to be honest. I would've loved to have ”Ghost” and ”Loot Burn Rape Kill” on the Reedemer instead of the above mensioned. I belive they would've fit in well.

I like to listen to their records as a whole, enjoing the musical thread through all the songs so to say.. Therefore I like Reedeemer as a record much better than DXM, even if DXM has plenty of diamond nuggets. In my opinion MaSu dare to develop without fear for what they do, and that they do what is right for them to do..

I wish them all the best of luck and success of course (but please keep your feet on the ground sweetiepie boys ;) )
You're awesome!

Unfortunately for me, I am gripped to keyboard instrumentals. Anything ranging from Yes to Genesis to Sonata Arctica. And for me that is what gripped me about MaSu from the offset.
As soon as I heard the beginings of Redeemer, I was already starting to get disappointed, not quite so with DXM.
17 for me was the final straw cos that keyboard alone can send anyone into comatose through epilepsy.

Its just a pity way things are panning out.

i read through enough of this thread to be cringing.

Music, and bands, are artists. Artists must constantly change the way they work. They experiment with different tools, tecniques and styles. They take influence from different places. If an artist doesnt change and develop and grow over time when theyre working, they become stale, repetitive and stuck in a rut. They took elements they liked from DXM obviously and tried a few different things in Redeemer. They softened the SID and changed the sound a bit. This is part of their learning and growing process. Go back and listen to some of the band members' earlier stuff if you want proof of how theyve grown. GoC, Flak, Masugn.

Machinae Supremacy's music is the creation of 5 different people who are learning, changing, adapting and implementing new ideas and sounds to try and find the ultimate music. You, as the listener, have the right to comment if you wish, but the music is still theirs, and if they like it then you have no real right to comment. Their music is an extension of their soul, like my paintings are an extension of mine. Theyll continue to learn and grow and ultimately become a better band than they are now.

To the OP, you say youre on par with MaSu, but do you have as many fans, a record deal, and as much success as they do? If you dont, you probably arent really on par with them at all. If youre doing what youre suggesting they do, keep playing the same music over and over, then youre doomed to failure.

I should post a disclaimer saying Im not a muso, but I am a fine artist. Am -exhibiting- fine artist, so I know what Im talking about, and how it can be applied to music.

Machinae Supremacy is not here to please you as individuals. Its there to reach out to people who -do- like their music and appreciate it in its shifting, changing form. If you dont like their music and you think that its a 'pity' theyre changing like any good artist should be, then please the door is that way if its that much of a pity to you.

I disagree!

... sorry, just had to. ;D

We now return to our regular broadcast: discussion of the "new" album. Warning to future posters: failure to realize the obvious awesomeness of this album may lead to public ridicule and confiscation of "diehard fan"-status. Disagree with the veteran forum members at your own risk, and don't come crying to the mods when you inadvertently expose your own noobishness in such a silly fashion.

do people realize that they don't HAVE to choose a favourite?
it's perfectly ok liking both albums.
