I finally had some time to play Oblivion. Unfortunately I have the German language version, which according to some internet buzz isn't that bad translated... I still prefer playing original versions though, especially since I know all the Elder Scrolls lore and terminology from Morrowind.

The battle at Kvatch... it's not the part where you encounter the first oblivion gate, is it? That part was quite easy...

Yah I was level 1 for the battle of kvatch.

And I ended up finding the whole dark brotherhood thing on accident, i had saved and decided to be silly... and it worked out pretty good for me

Been running quests for them now. Got a nice magical glowing dagger (which is where I stopped, gotta figure out how to recharge that thing when i get off work for sure). I love the ring and the black leather w/hood I got. Defenitely look like an assassin now.

Love their quests too. Dropping a minotaur head on a wood elf ftw!

Recharging things: Drop by your friendly neighbourhood alchemist or other purveyor of magical stuff, buy soulgems with souls in them, and use those to recharge yer dagger. Problem fixed.

Do NOT use those Mages' guild guys that recharge your equipment for a fee. 1 gold per charge = expensive. Go figure.

Not such a big thing because of the levelling ^^ (I did the same, and passed lvl2 just when I closed the door)
... and it's a really bad thing : you can fight scamp level 1 in Oblivion whereas you got killed by a rat in Morrowind with this level ^.

Amazing. They made the same mistake in the German version, "Feuerball" being the first healing spell.

Does the French version have localised voice acting, too? It's not that bad in German, except that I'm missing Patrick Stewart...

Yep, french version has localised voice acting, and it's quite well done. Except that we have some sounds missing (therefore the text displays way too fast to be read !), and two ghosts in the main quest (looking for some Talos's stuffs ) speak dutch...

And there are a lot of weirds expressions, but French communauty (wiwiland  ) has done some mods to correct these things. Now it's better ! (even if I'm missing Patrick Stewart too )

What if you acutally enjoy the new lockpicking system, why use skeleton key then?

Skeleton key is an unbreakable lockpick that gives you +40 to Security. It doesn't automatically open locks or anything.

I had just found the skeleton key yesterday on the off chance I'd do something open ended. I havent used it yet but the mission you get to do it is quite fun.

So much for the levelling and stuff... just makes for a different game experiance. Next time around i'll do that mission at level 1 or so :/ Now its time for me to become a vampire ^.^

I intend to do the evil stuff once I've finished the main quest...
