Neither did I, really.. I just loved how the electric guitar played off the orchestral sounds in this particular mix.

I listen to a shitton of videogame remixes. I pretty much listen to videogame music, videogame remixes, and Machinae Supremacy exclusively. Lets not forget remix64.com as one of the major remix sites, even MaSu has their remixes up there (which is how I found out about them).

There's truely a lot of good stuff on OCRemix, vgmix, and remix64. For OCR, you may have to sort out the good and bad mixes. All remixes dated past 2002 are, for the most part, pretty good, because that's when they adapted a quality control system (judges). There's a ton of stuff I'd recommend from OCR. Zircon has some great mixes, most specifically his collab with Unknown "When All Hope Has Faded" and his recent "Subterranean Opus" - awesome orchestral/electronica hybrids.  Bladiator and TO make brilliant collabs (Cool piano-chill stuff). The new Chrono Trigger remix "Black Wind Rising" is a pretty awesome song, it's a hybrid of many genres. Fans of MaSu should definitely check out DoD, as a lot of great rock mixes come out of that. http://dod.vgmix.com/ And oh yes, virt at vgmix makes some incredible mixes, and you can even download them right now! http://virt.vgmix.com/ (Crystal Flash is awesome).

I second this!  For people who aren't quite so into game mixes, but like a heavier sound, DoD has a lot of great rock stuff.  And virt has some absolutely AMAZING mixes.  I mean seriously great stuff.

For those who are more into the synthesised sound, check out SSH (http://www.ssh.ne.jp/ and click on MP3...site is in Japanese but easy enough to download stuff).  Some of the best synth mixes I've found, from games I know and games I don't.  Some great mixes of music from shooters.  Though again since the site is Japanese, we pretty much just had to download everything and give 'em a listen to find the great stuff.  A couple great mixes with the FFVI battle theme.

My absolute favorite remix, hell its one of my absolute favorite any song. Its a Doom II cover but dont be fooled, this is no midi/metallica/megadeath ripoff. A hauntingly beautiful melody carries the piece building layer upon layer turning ever more haunting, building and building, oh how it rocks too....

..err, is it wrong that i'm a little turned on..? *ahem* ...anyway...

All the music you all have suggested is really great... the last game i beat was ICO so i'm loving that save me remix.
While we wait for them to rise
