about machinae & sweden
« on: February 09, 2006, 06:43:05 pm »
I wrote a post a while back about this, but the idea of a machinae song in swedish is still rambling on in my mind.

I mean its just an idea, but I ain't heard nothing from any of the band members, let alone Robert ?

So whats the take on that then ?

Yay or Nay ?

Hmm, I think I said this last time too, that it's kind of unlikely since swedish is a rather ugly language imo. It'd take some weird fluke of inspiration to write a swedish song, and I'm not holding my breath for that to happen.

It's fun that you have that thought, though. :)

I STRONGLY disagree Robert. It's a shame you don't appreciate your beautiful language. I heard it for the first time in my life when I was 10 and visited Sweden, and I've been in love wih it Since. I still like German more, but Swedish is also amazing. I plan on learning it after I learn German. It especially sounds sexy (they both do actually) when spoken by a chic, so maybe you could have a half-Swedish half-English song, and the Swedish bits could even be short bits in the song or the chorus or something, and they could be sung by a Swedish girl with a nice voice. And the song could still be heavy and melodic like TTLG or something, and that would rock.

hahaha.. I don't think it's any coincidence that there are so many Swedish groups that sing only in in English.

Then machinae should make a song in German. Damn, that would rock.  :P

Or better yet, one third English, Swedish and German.

Bateman's idea (or sub-extension or my own idea? - whichever) rules.

FallenTabris: Sweden's a country where some TV channels are ni English with Swedish subtitles, so that's not surprising. Besides they're a small country that's over-exposed to all things English-speaking and American in origin.

What about the other two thirds?

By degrees we beheld the infinite abyss, fiery as the smoke of a burning city;
Beneath us, at an immense distance, was the sun, black but shining.

I think he meant one-third English, one-third German, and one-third Swedish.

Only one of the most amusing annual programmes ever created. Once a year, a bunch of european countries pick an artist to represent their country in the Eurovision. They sing a 3 minute long song, and everyone in the included European countries votes on it. Most entries are fucking hilarious.
