Ghost Vid Thought
« on: February 08, 2006, 10:35:38 am »
Even the other MaSu fan at my school thought I was crazy for taking the time to think of this.

Even before word of MaSu possibly becoming more mainstream I had this idea of a video for Ghosts beneath the surface and I see it in my mind every time I listen to the song because I thought it was pretty sweet.  So anyway this is just a general idea of the thing. (Not down to the second or anything)
Opening you see Tomas beating out the opening and the camera slowly pans out to see that you were watching him in the eyes of Robert who is staring into the sky. Oh and its raining though this entire thing.  Robert starts to look down on the phrase Water isn't always what you see..." and the camera starts too zoom out when he gets done with the phrase.  Right when Gibli starts his little solo part all you can see is his hands playing his ax.

Until Rob starts singing again it’s just a load of shots of the band playing the music.  Once rob is singing he's walking alone down a street (remember its still raining) with Tomas visible but in the distance. (sometimes Poe is with him cause there is bass easily hearable there) on the line "The water is the tide of night that comes a shadow pulls me down beneath" He looks back to the sky and on the next line you see him kind of into a thinking expression which he then shakes off with the line after (but this is someone else I am just beneath the surface)

"In the pouring rain" and after is just the whole band togter rockin out!  Until the little pause.  Which gets expanded for the video (I have even stopped my MP3 player just to get to see it all) the last shot before it is from the front of the band and it freezes just as the sound is killed. Camera pulls a 360 around the band and the zooms up and away till it’s almost like the camera is on a cherry picker or something.  and then its an outrageously fast zoom back in on the return line (I die!) and again its lots of the band playing (in the rain) till its just Gibli (or I think the ending is just Gibli) playing alone in the rain looking up at the sky the same way Rob was to start the thing with.

As I said it’s totally nuts but its fun for me to think of when I’m listening to Ghosts.  Even though I didn't mention Gordon I still think you rock man.

I know the feeling. I actually have some fucked up ideas for nice video-ish demos for several tunes, even MaSu ones. Mainly Ghost and Earthbound.

Sadly enough, my 3d programming skills are far from up to the task or I'd have a serious go at it. But I'd rather have inspiration and lack of talent than the other way around.

And btw, your ideas are far from nuts. Trust me  ;D

Few things I'd add: Lots of slow-mo viewing the falling rain and puddles of water on the ground at appropriate points of the song. Perhaps do some image hacking and reflect the member playing the guitar in this part in a puddle while Rob sings about another surface beneath.

At "and it hurries from my grasp" Rob scoops his hand through a puddle, and the camera watches the water flow out of it. The "future in the sand", perhaps a time-lapse shot of water sinking into sand? Maybe also some time lapse of the "tide of night" flooding the filmed area?

That solo shortly afterwards, that oscillating stuff that sounds much more like SiD or a synth than any other instrument the band uses, if I'm right Gordon should get full show for the first part. I am SO waiting for the mainstream public to get their hands on that solo.
Your approval fills me with shame.

I have a WICKED COOL idea for Follower but nobody else like Follower and I fail at flash etc.

So it'll never get made.

Believing in a zombieman from outer space who is his own father is pretty funny, but that's not what MaSu is about //yas

It would be cool if while it was raining, you had like random red raindrops like blood. Not a full blood rain but just the odd dot. Or a bit where the rain freezes and there's all this tiny bits of ice just floating in the air.

haha... I'm glad someone else said it before me.
that is the most generic and boring sounding music video i've heard of in awhile.
sorry MaSuVG.

I personaly always imagine any Machinae Supremacy video animated in the same style as their avatars are from the flash site... all animated, none of this normal human-people rocking out in the rain.  Animated versions would also make it easier for the band to make it closer to what the songs are really about anyway, in my opinion.

Had I animation (and drawing) skills, I've got a long list of things I'd like to make and put various MaSu tracks to.
Your approval fills me with shame.

ghost video? rain, rain, rain, rain and more rain......
darkness lots of darkness....  and... blood? maybe someone sprayed with bullets, slowly dying in the pouring rain, all that very slow and atmospheric and such cocksuck things
and the guy should have some flashbacks...... but mainly he should be bleeding...... but some of the parts(3:20-3:50 roundabout, for example,) dont fit that lying around and bleeding part, so, yeah.... flashbacks..... or somethin in the likes of that ^^

btw.
bands playing/banging/rockin in rain suck. well some of them probably dont, but those videos suck ^^ ;]..... unless they're hot chicks, but hot chicks rarely make that kind of music...... ;/
