Not as bad as a guy from a college who was making a presentation at our school and claimed that a 1GB mp3 player could hold 1200 songs...

Haha yeah because we all know a gig is really 940-ish mb lol so thats only about 1024 songs, right?.... riiiight? ::)

Actually, a Gig is 1073741824Bytes, which is 1GB, not 940MB. If it was a Hard-Drive MP3 player then you could theoretically get cheated and ripped-off a bit, but there's no 1GB Hard-Drive MP3 players - all the ones up to 4GB (and a few up to 8GB) use flash memory chips.

Thanks Laser Akakori.

Yeah, actually i know 1GB is actually supposed to be 1024MB or an ass load of Bytes, whatever. But my “1 GB” memory stick for my digital camera only holds about 940MB... my “30GB” hard drive mp3 player only holds 27.97-ish MB. I am well aware that my “200GB” hard drive reads 200,047,001,600 bytes and 186GB under drive properties.

I was simply using real number in the most ignorant way i could, look if i have to explain my jokes its not really worth it. hehe

I've read something that harddisk vendors have invented their own numeric system (obviously to make their disks larger) where 1 MB (called Million Bytes) is 1000000 bytes and 1 GB is 1000 MB. Convert that to "real" PC bytes and you should get the difference.
