Nov. 3 (PIC) -- An anonymous source who spoke with the Iranian media claimed that Iranian forces were present in the area near the Iraqi-Syrian border on Dec. 19 during the days that began following the chemical attacks against civilians by the Syrian government.
According to the source, around 20 trucks that passed near the Syrian border town of Derbil arrived in Iranian armored vehicles on Dec. 19, following an alleged operation by Syrian forces to transfer chemical weapons from al-Nusra Front to ISIS terrorists, but before delivery.
The Iranian military vehicles were sent to the border town of Duhok at 12:28 am on Dec. 20 and received an order to leave at about 3:30 am, the source told the Javan News Agency.
"Their military convoy moved to the area, but their weapons systems were not unloaded, and they did not receive proper orders," the source said.
The source claimed that Iranian troops moved in, attacked al-Nusra militants, and then opened fire with "numerous weapons on their positions" and in the surrounding area.
It is interesting to note the timing of these "attacks." The first one by the Assad regime on the rebel-held villages in Aleppo province happened on the 4th of Dec. following a chemical attack on a village near the regime-controlled town of Khan al-Assal. This was followed soon afterwards by the subsequent chemical attacks on the opposition-held parts of Aleppo. While the alleged Syrian chemical weapons use was claimed by Russia and claimed by Syrian rebels, other analysts suggested that the reports of US airstrikes are a false flag operation by the government to push the rebels out of the towns of al-Nusra strongholds in eastern Syria so as to "avoid a public relations fiasco."

On the Syrian front, President Bashar al-Assad launched a long campaign to drive back insurgent groups that had recently gained control of major cities like Damascus. The offensive, with Russian support, forced insurgents to withdraw in the past few weeks. The Russian campaign has proven a total failure because of a growing US-Russian coalition and an ever-growing flow of foreign fighters from Iraq, the Levant, and elsewhere.
The fighting has also driven millions of civilians to flee their homes and into shelters. In the past few days, the world has witnessed the worst humanitarian crisis since the Great Depression. The United Nations estimates that over 700,000 people have been forced to flee the city of Aleppo, the largest city in Syria, while some 200,000 people have been displaced from their homes in the surrounding countryside. Over 7 million people in Syria and over 10 million people in Iraq and Afghanistan have been forced to flee from th
