Being able to access info like that[1] does't mean you're not safe..

Geolocation via IP is interesting. There are some services that try to determine the city you live in based on IP ranges, e.g. http://www.geobytes.com/IpLocator.htm. Depends on your ISP whether it's accurate, mine usually points to a bigger city in my region... and sometimes thinks I live in Brazil.

During the last US election the Bush website had such a filter installed so that foreigners (and American citizens in other countries) couldn't view the page.

Well, I thought it was illegal to peek at what I have on my computer.
If someone notifies police based on such info then that someone should also be punished for invading my privacy.

Your OS, browser, and IP really aren't private information.

Ok that is very close. Points to Luton, a scummy large town just slightly above where I live.  Pointless waste of time though.

Oh, don't worry, I'm not accessing any of that information.  The only thing that I get when I see my sig is the data for MY computer.  And the only thing you'll see when you access it is yours.

Yah, I've had a friend take my name and state where I live and come up not only with my IP # but my ISP's name and address (Admitedly pretty easy with the IP) and even more scary, a satalite photo of my apartment and my  address.

We're not as annymous as we think we are...

Keep in mind, again, that we only see the info from our own computers.  But this is no joke, it's that easy to get information out of your PC.

No, the police have been notified thing, I'm assuming it's some kind of sick joke?

It's a nice thing to freak the shit out of people with though.
