it's not the vsts, it's what you play into them.
I know that v_v. I'm just trying to move to making good-sounding VST songs (take yasiekk's for example) since they are preferred over normal MIDI format songs.

It takes a lot of getting used to, so I was just wondering if there was some sort of tutorial. Then again, I can always learn from just listening to the VST songs around here...

Okay, let me be specific...I have trouble with arranging VSTs to sound good while not "cluttering up" to make noise instead of music. That's why I'm looking for some sort of tutorial.

Anyway, here's an actual User Releases post.

Yes, it's still MIDI although in MP3 format, and it's my most recent fully finished original composition so far. Inspiration from Heavenly's "When The Rain Begins To Fall" and Freedom Call songs. ^^

if it sounds like clutter it's usually because either it IS clutter or you're not panning your instruments. i used to have trouble squeezing in multiple sounds, but as soon as you start panning left and right it completely changes the sound you can get.

Here's my take on a generic metal song

http://boomp3.com/listen/c09gjfxq2_m/genericly-heavy

I may end up becoming serious about it, and make it harder, better, faster, and stronger... Wait... that's dance....

So I actually ended up becoming serious about it, and I freaking love the way it turned out.

Okay so it's been a long time since i last made anything. And i finally got myself to do some sorta song which can be found at MySpace by the name of lolcore.
It's not as heavy as usual, not as djenty as usual and it pretty much sucks donkeyballs..

Nice new release Niccho, you were on quite a writing roll for a while there, it was all great but that's a really catchy harmonised.. melodic riff you have going on.

And the next section is superb, great intro riff. Oh and hi :)

@ Jack Lupino: The song is cool but i think you could get a clearer sound with a better mix - this website might be a good start for that: http://www.homerecordingconnection.com/news.php?action=view_story&id=154

@ Niccho: your songs are outstanding May I ask which programs you use (especially the drum sound is great - battery?)

Thanks. For recording i use REAPER, Edirol Super Quartet for bass, Edirol Orchestral for orchestral stuff and Drumkit From Hell (ezdrummer version) for drums.
