Xbox 2 (AKA Xbox 360)
« on: May 11, 2005, 07:58:50 am »
Heres a few links to related information. While I would only take the physical picture of the machine to heart, the sources seem pretty reliable since the conference just took place not long ago. We'll be seeing it on TV soon enough.

The actual machine itself: http://www.engadget.com/entry/1234000490042605/

And a little info about the name: http://www.engadget.com/entry/1234000760030410/

If you want the times for the revealing of the new Xbox Console on MTV, the times are as follows (these are the only times I was able to locate):

North America
Thursday, May 12, at 9:30 P.M. Eastern (21:30)
                               8:30 P.M. Central (20:30)
                               9:30 P.M. Pacific (21:30)

Japan/Asia
Friday, May 13, at 11:30

Europe
France: Friday, May 13, at 19:00
Germany: Friday, May 13, at 19:00
Italy: Friday, May 13, at 23:30
Netherlands: Friday, May 13, at 19:30
Poland: Friday, May 13, at 21:00
Portugal: Friday, May 13, at 20:00
Romania: Friday, May 13, at 20:00
Scandinavia: Friday, May 13, at 22:00
Spain: Friday, May 13, at 21:30
U.K.: Friday, May 13, at 20:00

Australia

I'm a big Xbox Live player, so I'm looking forward to this.

Microsoft have learned their lesson, the marketing for the Xbox 360 is not bad, with the launch event on MTV and stuff (like employing all those Japanese game developers). This time they could have a chance against Sony.

Whew, I was worried one of these days I'd have to go on a rant as to why everyone should be a Nintendo fanboy

Yay Revolution!

I'm not a Xbox fan. I don't have one, and apart from DoA and Doom 3 there's not a lot to tempt me. But I am looking forward to the 360. For one, they have Sakaguchi-san which is worth the console by itself, but I also feel that Microsoft have really got a feel for the market now and are doing this pretty damn well.

Dunno about the Revolution, not only is that a bit of a naff codename, if it's really as 'Revolutionary' as Nintendo say it is, I think it could alienate them from the market. Like GBA-GC link-up, great idea but poorly supported. I guess we'll see at E3.

Nintendo has said that the Revolution won't be that "revolutionary", it'll be using things that have already been around but havn't been applied nearly as much to games...

And this time around the Revolution <-> DS hookup is all wireless so you don't have to deal with cables and that stuff, so it should be more generally supported

Nintendo just likes going in new directions with games, and for that I'm greatful, it spices things up

Also, Doom 3 doesn't count as a viable reason to get a console, as it's a port...a not so well done port too, but that's just opinion, and so is me saying you're better off with the PC version

My laptop has trouble running Icewind Dale II, so Doom 3 is way out of the window. Besides, the Collector's Ed (Which I get at discount anyway, mwahaha) has the extra's and a nice tin too ^_^

I do honestly 100% love Nintendo, but I'm a fan of the games more than the hardware. That said, my DS is my baby :) Maybe they should go the Sega way and drop out of hardware all together...

I hate consoles but all I can think is: oh my god Perfect Dark Zero confirmed.

*hopes for PC port*

Ugh! Reasons to own an xbox:

Xbox Live
Voice Communication
Better In-Game Playlist Management
Halo
Halo 2
Phantom Dust (killer game, only 20 bucks too)
Tom Clancy games such as Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory
Top of the line racing games like Midnight Club 3 Dub Ed and Forza Motorsports

Hell, to be honest, I bought a second Xbox just so my fiancee could Halo 2 with me. That was a good enough reason alone to not own one xbox, but TWO. :P

Can you play any region when you mod it?
