Doom music (and introduction)
« on: July 16, 2005, 04:39:58 am »
Greetings!

This is my first post on these forums, so first I'd like to say hello to you all. =)

I have recently discovered the music of Machinae Supremacy and I absolutely love it; especially the Giana Sisters remix (nostalgia all the way!), Arcade and Sidstyler. I have great respect for the band for their musical talents: Great harmonies, vocals and arrangements! ;)

Being an amateur guitarist (mostly metal, some classical music) as well as a game lover, I have tried to play some of the Doom and Doom2 background music tracks. At least two of them seem to have been inspired by Slayer but many others are playable on the guitar and sound very good and heavy. Thus I have wondered what Machinae Supremacy would think about making some remixes of the Doom/Doom2 backgrounds.

Personally I like e1m1, e2m1, d1readme, d1end, d2map1, d2map2, d2map7, d2map9, d1readme, d2readme and d1intermission (among a few others). These are the names of the midi-files I got off the web.

I have been trying to play these "songs" for quite some time but to be honest I have crappy equipment and I am not at all the best guitar player out there. ;) But from what I have heard from Machinae Supremacy, they seem to have excellent equipment and skills! Very fitting to make songs based on those game-tunes!

Well, I just wanted to share my love to the Doom-series' music. But also I would be very happy if someone could tell me what the band thinks about making songs based on the Doom music in the future! I recognize that some of the band seem to like rock/metal - well there is some hard n' heavy stuff waiting to be reincarnated by a talented band like you! =)))

Have a nice day and thanks in advance for all replies!

Here's a list of all the songs the Doom music is based off of:
http://www.doomworld.com/linguica/doomcovers/

Check out sycraft.org if you like the Doom music, the downloads of it there are of higher quality than you're going to get with any midi.

Hello and welcome!

I also love the Doom I / II music and actually have asked robert about this. I think he said that the Doom music is too dark/heavy/something (can't remember) for Machinae.

But oh hell it would be cool. :)

I agree, the doom-music would not suit MaSu, although it's really good, but very different from MaSu. And I guess they have enough ideas and/or suggestions for new tunes already =)
I wanted to change the world, but God wouldn't give me the source code.

The band have said in the past that they don't really want to continue doing game covers and the like.. the end of it all to (IIRC) be Sidology episode 2.

I'm sure somewhere in the background of that response was the sound of:

Pwned!

If i was in a band that was working its ass off to make awesome original material I'd start to get a little frustrated by all the requests for covers. At least 2 or 3 a month on these forums alone!
