So if I understood the article in the first post right... they hardly deny that their main goal is to earn the most money and compete for the mainstream popularity? They seem pretty obsessed with graphics, and buying both licenses and celebrities too.

I only buy games that I like and are fun, which aren't based on the latest famous celebrity or have the most realistic graphics. Hm... *Looks over his collection of video games* nope, no EA titles in there.

Scratchware and underdog games are growing bigger, I assume. When people have tired of the Hollywood-like game market of mass production, where everything is the same yet costs millions of dollars to produce, they turn to the games that are creations of love and creative ideas, not money and marketing. At least I know I do. Why buy yet another EA football game with better graphics for $40 when you can get hundreds of games that are much more fun, for $5 or for free? Just as you don't have to pay to look at a beautiful painting by an artist who loves his job, you don't have to pay for a great game if the creator doesn't want you to - we are many who make games for fun, not profit. Games like Jets'n'Guns cost money, but it's far less than "ordinary" games, and you know it goes to the time and cost that went into creating the fine game, not into some monopoly-bent publisher's pockets.

If EA came and asked me if they could sell and market my game, and I'd earn ten bucks for every copy they sold, I'd give them the finger. :P

Well, I got some news for you.  That probably won't happen.  From what I understand the last Myst game was intended to be the LAST myst game..

(Or was it the next one?  NOt sure, I don't like puzzles)

I was most disturbed by EA buying a chunk of Ubi Soft.. an image of the EA logo flashing up in the next Myst game.. bad karma.

Myst 5 will be the last "Myst" game. Weather nor not it'll be the last we see of the Myst universe's another matter.

They have developed the last few games that fast. I'm wondering why? have they being distributed by EA? Is EA pushing their game out to EAness types of games?

I dislike EA very much. Take for example their Nascar title that they stole from Papryus to develop "simulations" that should be "better" then other nascar titles out there. After Nascar 2003 racing season they released Nascar Thunder, that game did suck and I'm sure this one would to.

Although on the flip side of the coin they have introduced many non-games into the gaming world. Take for example the Sims <.< and also Need For Speed Underground and the second.

Gaming industry will probably end up like the movie/music industry. We'll end up with a evil Gaming Industry Association of America and buying games will be evil because it only supports the publishers and not the poor developers and pop culture will ruin all that was good about games. :|

Oh, and Laser, it's "Viva la Revolución" ...

Two words of French is enough for me. Any more and I get nauseaus.

If the gaming industry turns into the film industry then in a few years we'll get a succession of remakes as the game developers run out of new ideas. Oh wait, I think th'ats happening already.
