Looking for a program
« on: December 05, 2004, 09:24:55 pm »
Hey, all.

I'm looking for a virtual tabletop style game where I can test a card game I'm working on.  So far everything I've found hasn't been what I needed and/or hasn't been updated in years.

Can anyone help me out here?  Throw me a fricking bone... *puts his pinkie to his lip and mutters something about sharks and fricking lasers.*

Or maybe try SourceForge.net? If you haven't already, which hopefully you have.

Oh man, laugh of the day.
*Applaud*

And I fully agree with that notion. ;)
Oi, is this when I get a huge sig-image, start whining about "moar sid" and make nonsensical arguments to no good?

Considering that I'm looking for this program so that I can test with people online, I don't think it'd work.

Next suggestion?

Here's a novel idea.. program it yourself?

EDIT:

or, maybe, as I suggested before, visit SourceForge.net... See, now all I did was type in 3 simple words into their search... Card. Table. Top.

...Dunno if this'll work, but it says it can be used for any number of games outside of its original purpose, and that would seem to be fitting of what you need

thanks Tunic, it's appreciated.  the problem is that I can't program my way out of a paper bag.  I've got a brain disfunction, literally, that makes logic and such hard for me.

I couldn't figure out BASIC.. what makes you think I'll be able to figure out C++?  :D

I'll check it out though...

try a simple language like VB - im assuming your on a windows system. If not, there are other languages which you can easyily write in for *nix systems. Just gotta look around.

Perhaps Java maybe a good idea. its dead simple and is platform indendant. If your intend you to use sockets, it may look a little tricky at first but its not that bad if your persist.

Ive even seen software that will write other (basic) software for you. I cant remember where but i know it exists. i dont know how useful that would be.

My recommendation: Learn VB if windows. Learn Java if anything else. If your still not wanting to do that, search sourceforge like some other members have suggested.

Go to www.allegro.cc and request that someone make a program for you.
There's a bunch of cardplaying nerds there, maybe they'll make this thing for you if you're really lucky.

Thanks for the help, everyone.

I knew I'd at the very least get some leads coming here and I was right.
