I still love bees
« on: October 26, 2004, 07:30:32 am »
Yeah, the ILB story is still going.  Should be ending around November 9th (Halo 2 release).
The story seems to be centering around an alien artifact that some idiots recovered in deep space and brought back to earth.  The artifact is likely what brings the Covenant to earth.

Anyways.  Looks like Nintendo is starting up their own ARG based on Metroid.  They have about 50 of these sites set up now, such as:
http://www.iloveknees.com/
http://www.ilovecapris.com/
http://www.ilovekeys.com/
etc.
Each has the same picture and phrase poking fun at I love bees.

The actual ARG seems to be taking place at http://www.channel51.org/ which poses as a conspiracy theory site with UFO sightings, chupacabras, etc.  From their you find http://www.orbislabs.com/ which is doing research on what looks like the morph ball from Metroid.

On the Channel 51 site you can find the AIM screenname of the owner, YX455.  People have tried conversing with them, and they are asking for proof that you are not one of the "Powers That Be."  Too bad they've been offline for the last couple days.

Anyway, if you are looking to join an ARG, this looks like it could be interesting.  Or it could just be a stupid marketing ploy by Nintendo (not that ILB wasn't, but it actually had an interesting plot to go with it.  No idea whether this Nintendo one will offer the same).

It seems odd that Nintendo, which has a history of family entertainment, would single out Halo - anything but "family entertainment" - for their ad campaign =/

When Nintendo registers domains they usually register them on themselves.

iloveknees.com isn't registered to Nintendo so I think that it's an outside group that's done it.
Probably 2advanced.net in this case.
SMEG!

2advanced.net seems to be designing the sites involving this ARG for Nintendo.

This is very interesting though...  I am talking to "YX455" on AIM right now about Orbis Labs.  Trying to find more information and hopefully progress the game.

i dont think the nintendo ones are actually going to be ARG's most likely they are just an ad campaign poking fun at the i love bees site what with the reference to halo and the site and all.

Seems like it's not going to be an ARG.  The two AIM accounts mentioned on the site were giving clues hinting an ARG for a while, but they've been offline for a week and nothing interesting is happening on the site.
